Electronic Gaming

Have your sweaty palms shorted out a gamepad? Ever bandaged your thumbs to play for a few more hours? Spent another week unlocking everything? If you're a console or computer gamer, here's your chance to spout some bits.

Do any of the gamegrene regulars here (I think you know who you are) have a Facebook account?

I'm trying to get a full set of players for a game of phpDiplomacy and I have one seat left to fill. We play through the phpDiplomacy Facebook app. (See, Facebook does actually have its uses).

For those of you unfamiliar with the game, Diplomacy is a game of strategy, psychology and calculated risk taking based on the Great War (WWI) in Europe.

I am looking to start running a game via email. But I have no real idea how to do this. We are planning to send one or two emails a week. Otherwise, I don't have a clue.

I will be running the game and have the world and background set up. I also have a game system ready, if such a thing is needed. But I don't know how to determin success rolls, combat, magic, or anything else.

Combat in my games are very descriptive and typically consist of one move at a time. An attack and defense, leading to the next attack and so on. How would I do this via email? What if they fail at somethng?

Without true individual drama the increasingly popular computer games that mimic roleplaying are patterning the minds of good role-players to be rigid and selfish. The quality of role-playing that I have seen with those players in my gaming group who engage in this pursuit has diminished greatly. These games present a repetitive structure that focuses on self-aggrandizement and the ability to conquer by whatever means necessary.

I love Civiliations II. The simplicity and elegance of that game make it playable even today. One of the features I liked to toy around was to set all the empires to an AI and instead of playing the game, I'd watch a game organically play out.

Well, ive been Refereeing (Dm'ing) for about a year now. I havent really had that much fun because nobody ever wants to play it anymore. I would really like to referee when there is like 6 people but i cant get enough people to play.

Dear all,

I'm looking for some help. After endless frustrating hours of web searching, I have been un-sucessful at finding a download of the original Chucky Egg game in it's original format.

All I seem to be able to find is a crap boring immitation of the original called GJ Chucky Egg! It's rubbish.

Check out VanBard which is a fansite for the upcoming MMORPG Vanguard: Saga of Heroes. We have extensive Developer's Digest that will get you caught up on the game fairly quickly.

First off, I know, I know, I've been a horrible boyfriend. I've been struggling between Ghyll, paid writing and tech-editing gigs, and actually playing games, and it leaves very little time to update Gamegrene.com on a regular basis. With that said, I suspect I am nearing a bit of a clearing. Hopefully. (Incidentally, I suspect my lack of updates is chief cause of this, but there haven't been very many content submissions lately either).

This is funny as hell and I've never even played WoW.
